Chihuahua launches support program for over 6,000 people with disabilities

The state government of Chihuahua and the municipal administration announced a Disability Support Program for 2026 that will allocate 48,751,200 Mexican pesos to benefit 6,019 permanent‑disability residents of the capital. Applications closed with 6,089 submissions; 6,019 met the eligibility criteria. Funds will be delivered via bank cards, with amounts scaled to each beneficiary's socioeconomic condition: 2,039 recipients will receive 5,000 pesos, 3,139 will get 8,800 pesos and 841 will obtain a maximum of 13,000 pesos. Distribution begins on the announcement day, with cards handed out at a designated site or delivered to homes for those unable to attend.

Secretary of Human Development Jesús Salvador Carrillo Castillo explained that the program aims to strengthen autonomy and improve quality of life, allowing recipients to use the money for food, medication, essential goods and functional supports. The initiative is part of Governor Maru Campos' broader NutriChihuahua strategy to enhance food security for vulnerable families.
