Chihuahua officials report harassment and sexual abuse allegations
In Chihuahua, Mexico, multiple allegations of harassment and abuse involving public officials have surfaced. María Eugenia Becerra Barraza, the municipal syndic of Camargo, filed a formal complaint with the State Attorney General's Office after reporting that she was followed by a vehicle while traveling through the city. The Institutional Revolutionary Party (PRI) in Chihuahua has called for an exhaustive investigation to ensure the safety of public servants.
Separately, a mobility agent within the State Public Security Secretariat (SSPE) has accused Chief Inspector Víctor Hugo Aldaz Palacios of sexual abuse and authority abuse. The legal representation for the agent alleges that Aldaz Palacios, who serves on the agency's Honor and Justice Commission, utilized his position to engage in systematic workplace harassment and retaliation. The complaint further alleges that Subsecretary of Mobility César Komaba Quezada failed to act on warnings and actively protected the accused.
