Oncology infrastructure expands in Chihuahua and Bugaba

In Mexico, the State Cancerology Center (CECAN) in Chihuahua is enhancing its oncology services. Governor Maru Campos announced the arrival of a new linear accelerator, currently undergoing installation and testing. This device is expected to double treatment capacity in the capital, providing more precise, less invasive, and faster radiotherapy for patients through the MediChihuahua program. The announcement coincides with the 35th anniversary of CECAN, which included medical training sessions on topics such as breast cancer treatments and nursing care.

In Panama, President José Raúl Mulino inaugurated the José Mulino Rovira Oncology and Nuclear Medicine Center in Bugaba. This new facility aims to decentralize specialized cancer care, benefiting over 600,000 people in the western regions of Chiriquí, Bocas del Toro, Veraguas, and the Ngäbe-Buglé comarca. The center features a radiotherapy unit with two bunkers designed for linear accelerators and brachytherapy procedures, reducing the need for patients to travel to Panama City for treatment.
