Chihuahua launches Borron y Cuenta Nueva tax relief program
The Government of Chihuahua has announced the 2026 edition of the “Borrón y cuenta nueva” program, offering significant tax discounts to help families regularize their finances. The initiative, which runs through November, December, and January, provides tiered relief for vehicle payments, state taxes, driver licenses, and transport rights.
According to Secretary of Finance José de Jesús Granillo, the discounts will be applied progressively: up to 95 percent in November, 80 percent in December, and 70 percent in January. For driver licenses, the program offers a 40 percent discount in November, decreasing to 30 percent in December and January. The digital system will reflect these updated amounts starting November 1.
Additionally, the program includes special support schemes for businesses, such as facilitating the regularization of sanitary certificates for establishments selling alcoholic beverages. Payments can be made via digital platforms, official citizen service channels, convenience stores, or at the Recaudación de Rentas offices.
