Chihuahua water board JMAS under scrutiny after sewage spill and court‑ordered water cuts
In Camargo, the municipal water and sanitation board (JMAS) rehabilitated the Patrocinio collector after a failure caused a sewage spill. The repair was part of ongoing efforts by the board, which also announced a new finance director and coordinated the delivery of more than 50 tonnes of agricultural inputs to local producers.
In nearby Parral, JMAS was accused by state deputy Alma Portillo of defying a judicial order that required the board to restore water service to families in the El Quijote colonia. Portillo said residents have been without water for weeks, alleging the board falsely claimed meter readings indicated consumption. She demanded the board’s head appear before the community and warned of continued legal action to secure the right to water.
