This performance places the film at the top of the 2026 box office rankings and 15th in all-time historical rankings. Analysts attribute the franchise's massive popularity to the unique storytelling methods of its creator, Nagano. Specifically, the characters often communicate through non-verbal sounds and expressions rather than explicit dialogue, which encourages readers and viewers to emotionally interpret and connect with the characters' feelings personally.
