Chiikawa movie earns 9.28 billion yen at Japanese box office

The animated film ‘Chiikawa: The Secret of Mermaid Island’ has achieved significant commercial success in Japan, recording 9.28 billion yen in box office revenue and attracting 6.45 million viewers within 24 days of its July 24 release.

To celebrate the film's popularity, organizers have announced the third set of theater admission bonuses, titled ‘Gokigen Siren♪’. Starting August 22, theaters nationwide will distribute limited-edition pull-back cars featuring the Siren character with Chiikawa, Hachiware, or Usagi riding on its back. The items will be distributed randomly, with one per person per screening.
