Chiikawa movie reaches 8.07 billion yen in box office revenue

The first film adaptation of the popular manga series ‘Chiikawa’, titled ‘Chiikawa the Movie: Secret of Mermaid Island’, has achieved significant commercial success. Within 20 days of its release, the film recorded 8.07 billion yen in box office revenue and attracted 5.63 million viewers.

A new non-credit opening sequence, personally structured by the original creator Nagano, has been released. The footage features the main characters, including Chiikawa, Hachiware, and Usagi, engaging in daily activities such as weeding and participating in various tasks. The opening is accompanied by the original theme song ‘Kutsuzure’, performed by Hachiware.

Voice actors for the regular cast, including Yuka Iguchi (Momonga) and Yuma Uchida (Rakko), have shared reflections on the production. Additionally, the TV anime series continues its broadcast, with recent episodes receiving attention for their relatable themes.
