Chiikawa movie surpasses 11 billion yen in box office revenue

The film ‘Chiikawa: The Secret of Mermaid Island’ has achieved significant commercial success in Japan, surpassing 11 billion yen in cumulative box office revenue and attracting 7.66 million viewers. According to weekend box office rankings for August 21–23, the film maintained its first-place position with 825,800 admissions and 1.242 billion yen earned over the three-day period.

To support the film's popularity, various promotional activities are ongoing, including the distribution of character-themed pull-back cars and special screening events. The commercial momentum has also extended to retail, with stores like Watts offering affordable Chiikawa-themed stationery, such as pen cases, files, and masking tape, priced at 110 yen each.
