ChiiKawa movie to debut in IMAX on July 24, 2026

The first film adaptation of the popular manga and anime series ‘ChiiKawa’ – titled *ChiiKawa: Secret of the Mermaid Island* – will open nationwide in Japan on July 24, 2026. The release will be simultaneous with an IMAX screening, marking the series’ first appearance in the premium format.

A special IMAX‑style poster featuring enlarged portraits of the main characters ChiiKawa, Hachiwari and Rabbit has been unveiled. The animation is being handled by Saipaku, noted for high‑quality action sequences such as those in *Uma Musume: Pretty Derby – New Era Door*. The film includes new musical elements, including a rap segment by Rabbit, and promises heightened sound and visual impact across the large‑screen format.

The announcement follows the franchise’s recent successes, including multiple Japan Character Award Grand Prix wins and over 400 million cumulative YouTube views for the TV series, confirming its strong domestic and international fan base.
