Childhood Cancer Awareness Month focuses on research and support

September marks Childhood Cancer Awareness Month, a period dedicated to increasing awareness and raising funds for pediatric cancer research and family support services.

Organizations such as CureSearch and St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital work to address the urgent need for new treatments. St. Jude has contributed to increasing the overall survival rate for childhood cancer from 20% to over 80% since its founding in 1962. In the United States, more than 15,000 children are diagnosed with cancer annually, and many survivors face long-term chronic health conditions due to treatment.

Charitable efforts include the Relay podcast network’s fundraising initiatives and the global support network of Ronald McDonald House Charities, which operates in more than 64 countries to assist families facing pediatric illness.
