India school fatality: 9-year-old girl dies after staircase fall

A 9-year-old student, identified as Varnika, has died following a fall from a staircase at a private school in the Ranga Reddy district of Telangana, India. CCTV footage captured the incident, showing the fourth-grade student losing her balance while descending the stairs and striking her head on the sharp edges of the steps.

Following the fall, the child lost consciousness and was transported to a nearby hospital, where she passed away on September 18. The incident has sparked a legal and ethical dispute between the victim's family and the school administration. The family alleges gross negligence, claiming they were not promptly notified of the accident, which they believe delayed medical intervention.

In response, the school management denied the allegations, stating they were waiting for the child's father to arrive and that staff arranged transportation to a private hospital as soon as the child began vomiting. Local police are currently investigating the circumstances of the fall and reviewing surveillance footage to determine the exact cause.
