Chile allocates $2.1 bn Royalty Minero funds to Arica and Parinacota municipalities

The Subsecretariat for Regional Development announced that the four communes of Chile's Arica and Parinacota region received the third 2026 installment of the Royalty Minero, amounting to a total of 2.122 billion Chilean pesos. The funds, delivered through the Territorial Equity Fund (FET), are intended to strengthen municipal budgets for security, infrastructure and community‑development projects.

Arica received the largest share at roughly 1.403 billion pesos, while Putre, Camarones and General Lagos were allocated about 265 million, 236 million and 218 million pesos respectively. The distribution completes three equal quarterly transfers that together total about 707.6 million pesos per commune for the year, providing local authorities with fresh resources to design, tender and execute visible improvements.

Officials highlighted the payments as a concrete step toward decentralisation and reducing fiscal gaps between municipalities, urging local councils to prioritise projects that address safety and urban infrastructure needs.
