Chile strengthens winter emergency preparedness with army deployment

Chile's presidential delegate for the region, Juan Eduardo Prieto, met with Army commander Bernardo Martín of the 16th Regiment in Talca to coordinate actions under the "Plan Invierno". The meeting focused on improving inter‑institutional coordination, assessing the army's capacity to support disaster‑risk management and rapid response to severe winter weather such as frontal systems and heavy precipitation.

Prieto emphasized that early, preventive collaboration with the armed forces is essential to deliver quick, efficient aid to communities, reinforcing the army's strategic role in territorial deployment and state support during emergencies.
