Chile announces 2026 daylight saving time schedule
The Chilean government has issued Decree No. 98, establishing the schedule for seasonal time changes between 2026 and April 2029.
According to the decree, daylight saving time (UTC-3) will begin on the night of Saturday, September 5, 2026. At midnight, clocks will be advanced by 60 minutes to 01:00 on Sunday, September 6, 2026. This summer schedule will remain in effect until Saturday, April 3, 2027, when the country will return to winter time.
There are regional exceptions to this rule. The Magallanes and Chilean Antarctica Region will maintain the same time zone throughout the entire year without changes. In Rapa Nui and Salas y Gómez Island, the time change will occur on September 5, but due to their specific time zone, the clocks will be advanced by one hour at 22:00 to 23:00.
