Chile approves $30,000 extraordinary bonus for children

The Chilean Chamber of Deputies has approved a government-led project to provide an extraordinary one-time bonus of $30,000 per child for families in the most vulnerable 80% of the population, according to the Social Registry of Households.

The initiative includes provisions for children under 13 who are in alternative care arrangements, such as extended or foster families, who may access the benefit regardless of socioeconomic status. Additionally, the law covers newborns from June 2, 2026, to March 15, 2027, provided their mothers are within the bottom 80% of household income. These modifications are expected to add more than 79,000 new beneficiaries to the program.
