Chile audio consumption reaches 93% as local music expands via streaming
A report from Ibope’s Audio Pulse 2026 indicates that 93% of the Chilean population consumes audio content, with radio maintaining a massive presence by reaching 56% of the population. Radio listeners spend an average of 10 hours and 16 minutes per week on the medium, primarily accessing it via car (37%) and mobile phones (32%). The data shows that audio formats coexist rather than compete; 74% of radio listeners also use music streaming services, and 34% of radio listeners also consume podcasts.
Regarding the music industry, Spotify data reveals that more than half of the top 50 most-listened-to artists in Chile are local. Xenia Manning, Spotify’s Director of Global Music Industry Policy, noted that streaming has democratized market access, allowing Spanish-language and local music to reach international audiences immediately upon release. This shift has moved the market away from Anglo-centric dominance toward stronger local representation.
