Chile boosts heating subsidy for families in Aysén region
The Chilean Ministry of Development Social and Family announced an extraordinary increase to the heating subsidy for households in the Aysén region. The boost adds a one‑time payment of 25,000 Chilean pesos per home, raising the total benefit to 125,000 pesos for 2026 – a 25% rise over the standard amount. About 37,000 families are expected to receive the aid, costing the government roughly one billion pesos. Minister María Jesús Wulf said the measure responds to higher fuel prices and the essential need for heating in the region. The subsidy requires no application and will be disbursed through the existing mechanism at the end of August 2026.
