Chile Customs Seizes 113,500 Counterfeit Toys Worth $1.65 Million
The National Customs Service of Chile intercepted a container at the San Antonio port containing 113,500 counterfeit toys valued at more than US$1.65 million. The seizure was carried out during a risk‑based inspection under Operation Cono Sur, just days before the national Children’s Day celebrations.
Customs officials highlighted the public‑health danger of the fake products, noting that they may contain toxic materials, small detachable parts, or flammable components. Subdirector of Fiscalization Natalia Garay said the operation “prevents the entry of these goods at a time of high demand.” Regional Presidential Delegate Manuel Millones added that the action protects families by removing unsafe merchandise from the market.
