Chile distributes $56,633 million in Mining Royalty to municipalities
Chile has completed the fourth transfer of the Mining Royalty to municipalities, distributing $56,633 million across 309 communes. This funding is split between the Mining Communities Fund ($13,729 million for 45 communes) and the Territorial Equity Fund ($42,904 million for 302 communes).
In the Maule Region, more than $3,860 million was transferred to 28 communes, bringing the total regional amount received this year to $15,454 million. The government has advised that these funds be prioritized for security, infrastructure, and the recovery of public spaces.
Nationally, the total amount distributed via the Mining Royalty this year has reached $226,235 million. Separately, the Chilean government is working to accelerate mining investment by encouraging international companies to partner with the state-owned company Codelco and by expanding lithium activity through Special Lithium Operation Contracts (CEOL).
