Chile employment expectations rise to 15% for late 2026

Chilean employers report a 15% Net Employment Index (NEO) for the period between October and December 2026, according to the ManpowerGroup Employment Expectations Survey (MEOS). This figure represents a three-percentage-point increase compared to the third quarter of 2026, though it remains six points lower than the same period in 2025.

The data suggests a gradual and selective recovery in the labor market, aligned with a scenario of moderate economic growth. Hiring intentions are currently concentrated in specific sectors and regions rather than showing a generalized market recovery. Jorge Gamero, regional director for ManpowerGroup Chile-Peru, noted that while companies are gradually regaining their willingness to hire, the challenge remains to sustain this optimism and extend it across other industries to create formal employment.
