Chile expands logistics infrastructure and port capacity

Chile is undergoing a significant transformation of its logistics infrastructure to enhance international competitiveness and establish the country as a strategic South American hub. Key strategic projects include the San Antonio Outer Port, bioceanic corridors, railway expansions, and the development of green hydrogen.

In the Tarapacá Region, Empresa Portuaria Iquique (EPI) and Corfo Tarapacá are collaborating on a Regional Logistics Policy to project the port's development toward 2050. Similarly, in the Coquimbo Region, Empresa Portuaria Coquimbo is seeking to increase cargo volumes, potentially serving as a Pacific exit point for Argentine production.

Regional investments are also surging in Ñuble, where over US$50 million is being directed toward storage and warehousing centers. Notable projects include a US$14 million expansion of Cencosud’s distribution center in Chillán Viejo, aimed at strengthening supply chain efficiency in the central-southern zone.
