Chilean infrastructure and economic investment

Overview

Chile continues to implement large-scale investment initiatives focused on infrastructure and economic development. Efforts to enhance logistics and port capacity include the San Antonio Outer Port, bioceanic corridors, and railway expansions. In the Tarapacá Region, Empresa Portuaria Iquique and Corfo Tarapacá are collaborating on a Regional Logistics Policy to project port development toward 2050. Recent progress shows the Valparaíso Region has completed 100% of its planned tenders, representing an investment exceeding $34.1 billion CLP and projecting over 2,100 new jobs. The O’Higgins Region has also reached full compliance for its regional tenders with an investment of over $19.1 billion CLP, expected to generate more than 1,100 jobs.

In La Araucanía, the plan has reached a 97.7% advancement rate, with 42 of 43 initiatives tendered, involving over $43 billion CLP and an estimated 1,600 monthly jobs. Other regional developments include $3.37 billion CLP for urban and rural improvements in Maule, and investments exceeding $14.8 billion CLP in Magallanes, including a new fire station in Punta Arenas. Energy and utility developments include the approval of two solar projects in Limarí province totaling $91.6 million, and a $3,000 million project to provide electricity to families in the General Lagos commune. Additionally, Aguas del Altiplano has approved a desalination plant in Arica and Parinacota to secure water supplies.
