Chile football federation cites Spanish method as it searches for new coach
ANFP president Pablo Milad said the training methodology used by Chile's national teams follows the same approach as that of Spain, the 2026 World Cup champion. He emphasized that the method is consistent with global standards and has been applied to the senior and youth squads.
Chile still lacks a permanent head coach; interim manager Nicolás Córdova remains in charge while the federation looks for a successor. Milad, who will step down as ANFP president in November, mentioned the possibility of appointing former Real Betis coach Manuel Pellegrini after his contract ends in June 2027. The South American qualifying campaign is expected to start in September 2027, with the final format of the 2030 World Cup still pending FIFA approval.
