In early July, the Chilean federation dismissed rumours that Argentine coach Sebastián Beccacece would take over, while talks with former manager Manuel Pellegrini stalled. The national team remained without a confirmed head coach and other player moves, such as Leandro Fernández’s return to Defensa y Justicia, did not affect the impasse. Later that month, ANFP president Pablo Milad said the federation’s training methodology follows the Spanish model used by the 2026 World Cup champions, applying the same standards to senior and youth teams. Interim manager Nicolás Córdova remains in charge while the search for a permanent head coach continues. Milad, who will step down in November, indicated that Pellegrini could be appointed after his Real Betis contract ends in June 2027, ahead of the South American qualifying campaign expected to start in September 2027 and the pending format for the 2030 World Cup.
