Chile football federation rules out Beccacece, moves toward Pellegrini as national team coach

The Asociación Nacional de Fútbol Profesional (ANFP) dismissed rumours that Argentine coach Sebastián Beccacece would be appointed head coach of the Chilean national team, calling the reports "smoke" and noting a pending legal dispute in which Beccacece seeks more than 3 billion pesos from the federation. The federation said the lawsuit makes any appointment impossible.

Negotiations with former Chilean manager Manuel Pellegrini are advancing. Pellegrini, still under contract with Spain's Real Betis and set to play in the UEFA Champions League, is expected to take the role after his club commitments end.

Separately, Luis Marín, president of the players’ union Sifup, said ANFP president Pablo Milad confirmed in a recent interview that discussions are ongoing about a new coach and hinted that a “much‑desired” candidate has already been identified, though no name was disclosed.
