Chile highlights ski resorts and hot‑spring getaways for winter holidays
Chile is promoting a range of winter‑time destinations for the vacation period from 22 June to 3 July. In the south, the town of Lonquimay in the Araucanía Andes offers snow‑covered landscapes, trekking, snow‑shoeing, sledding, local pehuenche cuisine and nearby attractions such as the Malalcahuello National Reserve, the Corralco ski centre and several thermal spas. Entre Lagos, on the shores of Lake Puyehue, provides access to the Puyehue National Park and the mineral‑rich Puyehue hot springs.
In the north, the oasis town of Pica in the Tarapacá region features the famed Termas de Pica, thermal waters between 27 °C and 30 °C, and a fruit‑rich gastronomy centred on the small, juicy Pica lemon. A separate guide lists eight notable ski centres across the country: historic Portillo, the family‑friendly El Colorado, La Parva near Santiago, the large modern Valle Nevado, Las Araucarias in the Conguillío National Park, Pillán near the Villarrica volcano, Corralco with its Araucaria forests, Nevados de Chillán with year‑round thermal facilities, and El Fraile in Aysén, the sole ski area of Patagonia.
These locations combine snow sports, natural scenery and thermal relaxation, catering to both domestic and international tourists seeking winter adventure or relaxation in Chile.
