Chile issues rain, thunderstorm and air‑quality alerts for July 10

Chile's Meteorological Directorate announced a warning for rain and thunderstorms expected on Friday 10 July across the central zone, affecting the Metropolitan, Maule, Ñuble, Biobío and La Araucanía regions. Expected precipitation ranges from 20 mm to 35 mm in pre‑cordilleran and cordilleran areas, with thunderstorms possible over the same zones.

The same day, the Presidential Delegation for the Metropolitan Region declared an environmental alert in Santiago because of elevated pollution levels. Authorities reiterated the ban on wood‑fuel heating (except pellets) and on agricultural burning, and imposed vehicle‑restriction measures based on green‑sticker plates and license‑plate ending numbers inside and outside the Américo Vespucio ring.
