Chile launches $189 M public job training and Google AI scholarship programs

The National Service for Training and Employment (SENCE) in Chile’s Los Lagos region completed a week of intensive vocational training, awarding diplomas to 142 participants across seven communes. The program invested $189,527,314 in courses ranging from gas‑device operation and herbal medicine to plumbing, bakery basics and disability‑focused training, and provided tool subsidies of up to $250 per trainee.

To mark 15 years of its local office, Google Chile announced a suite of free education initiatives. It will grant 15,000 scholarships for Google Career Certificates, introduce a new Professional AI Certificate, and fund the Experience AI school program for students aged 11‑14 with $450,000. Additional funding of $260,000 will support data‑center labs at Duoc UC and INACAP.

Both efforts aim to boost employability, support entrepreneurship and prepare the Chilean workforce for the growing demand in artificial‑intelligence‑driven industries.
