Chile launches $20 million health fund and housing partnership for Los Lagos and Aysén
The Los Lagos regional ministry of Development Social and Family announced a $20 million Healthy Environments Fund for 2026. Foundations, corporations, associations and local public education services can apply until 4 August to fund projects that promote healthy habits, especially active aging, targeting the 60 % most vulnerable households. Proposed activities include physical‑activity workshops, school and community gardens, and health‑education campaigns.
Separately, Servicio País and the Foundation Superación de la Pobreza, together with the Ministry of Housing and Urbanism (Minvu) and Serviu, visited the isolated Islas Huichas in Aysén to strengthen a partnership aimed at improving habitability. The collaboration will address housing deficits in the islands of Islas Huichas, Puerto Aguirre, Estero Copa and Caleta Andrade, where poverty rates remain high despite national declines. The joint effort seeks to reduce territorial isolation and provide dignified housing for these remote communities.
