Chile launches 2026 Casen Survey campaign to measure poverty
The Chilean Ministry of Social Development and Family has launched the “Cuando tú respondes, Chile responde” campaign to support the 2026 Casen Survey. This national initiative serves as the primary instrument for measuring poverty and characterizing household conditions regarding education, health, housing, and income.
Fieldwork will be conducted by the University of Chile’s Microdata Center between November 1, 2026, and January 31, 2027. The survey aims to visit 75,813 households across all 16 regions of the country. In the Biobío Region alone, more than 8,000 homes will be visited.
Authorities emphasized that all information provided is confidential and used strictly for statistical purposes. Participation will not affect existing social benefits or the Social Household Registry. To ensure security, surveyors will wear uniforms and carry credentials with QR codes that can be verified online via official websites.
