Chile 2026 Casen Survey implementation

The Chilean Ministry of Social Development and Family has launched the “Cuando tú respondes, Chile responde” campaign to support the 2026 National Socioeconomic Characterization Survey (Casen). The initiative aims to measure poverty levels and characterize household conditions related to education, health, housing, employment, and income.

Fieldwork is scheduled to be conducted by the University of Chile’s Microdata Center between November 1, 2026, and January 31, 2027. While initial reports estimated visits to 75,813 households, subsequent details indicate a national target of 111,080 households. Regional efforts include visiting over 8,000 homes in the Biobío Region, 3,712 homes in Arica and Parinacota, and 3,506 dwellings in Magallanes.

To ensure security and participation, authorities stated that all information provided is confidential and will not affect existing social benefits or the Social Registry of Households. Surveyors will wear uniforms and carry credentials with QR codes for online verification. Officials have reminded citizens that surveyors will never request money, bank passwords, or ClaveUnica credentials.
