Chile launches Automatic Family Subsidy for low‑income households
The Chilean government announced the Automatic Family Subsidy, a monthly cash benefit delivered directly to eligible families without any application process. To qualify, the household head must lack social security coverage and the family must rank within the poorest 40 % according to the Registro Social de Hogares, with at least one child under 18. Each registered child receives 22,601 Chilean pesos per month; if the child has a disability, the amount is doubled to 45,202 pesos. Payments are deposited automatically through the official platform (sufautomatico.gob.cl) using the child's RUN and birth date.
The program aims to support vulnerable families by easing expenses for food, transport and medication, and is part of a broader set of social benefits targeting low‑income populations.
