Chile launches financial services export task force and entrepreneurship report to boost jobs

The Chilean Ministry of Finance announced the creation of a Working Group on the Export of Financial Services. The group will focus on expanding wealth‑management and investment‑administration services for non‑resident clients, aiming to grow the sector’s exports beyond the current US$3 billion and add 30‑40 000 jobs, with a target of 50 000 additional positions, positioning financial services as the country’s second‑largest export after copper.

In parallel, the National GEM (Global Entrepreneurship Monitor) Report for 2025‑2026 was launched by the Centre for Research on Business and Society at the Universidad del Desarrollo. The report shows Chile remains among the world’s most entrepreneurial nations, with 70 % of people viewing entrepreneurship positively, but stresses that the main challenge is improving the survival and growth of new firms. Economy Minister Daniel Mas highlighted the need for a “facilitating state” that reduces bureaucracy to enable entrepreneurs to create wealth and jobs.
