Chile mining industry boosts production through automation and Enami’s small‑mine initiatives

Deputy Minister of Economy, Development and Tourism and Mining, Daniel Mas, visited Christensen Boyles in Chile to inspect a new automated line for manufacturing drilling bars and a thermal‑treatment system. Developed by Chilean and Brazilian teams, the line doubles production capacity and enhances the technical specifications of bars used in mineral exploration and geotechnics.

Enami’s executive vice‑president Juan Carlos Sáez led a tour of Antofagasta and Taltal, reviewing infrastructure upgrades, a road‑map with Minera Las Cenizas, and plans to acquire crushers for regional processing plants. The agency aims to strengthen small and medium‑size mining, accelerate permits and create quality jobs in the region, highlighting the sector’s role in Chile’s economy.
