Chile mining royalty collections reach $1.6 trillion in 2025

A study by the Center for Copper and Mining Studies (CESCO) reveals that while mining royalty collections in Chile exceeded $1.6 trillion in 2025—an 11% increase from the previous year—only about 28% of these funds were distributed through identifiable territorial mechanisms.

The analysis shows that approximately $454 billion was channeled through the three legally established funds: the Regional Fund for Productivity and Development (FRPD), the Territorial Equity Fund (FET), and the Mining Communes Fund (FCMI). The remaining 72% of the revenue entered the nation's general treasury.

CESCO suggests improving the traceability of these revenues and allocating more funds toward innovation, exploration, and mining infrastructure to better support regional development.
