Chile mining sector to discuss energy transition at EXPONOR 2026 seminar
On 9 June 2026, the EXPONOR 2026 exhibition will host a seminar titled “Matriz Energética y Competitividad en la Industria y Minería”. The event brings together senior industry figures to address Chile’s challenge of securing a safe, efficient and sustainable electricity supply for a surge in mining projects, especially in the Antofagasta region.
Speakers include María Nohemí Arboleda of Colombia’s market operator, Christian Clavería of BHP Americas sharing the company’s shift to renewable power, Ramón Castañeda of the Coordinador Eléctrico Nacional, and Camilo Charme of Generadoras de Chile outlining regulatory and international frameworks for the energy transition. The session will be moderated by Javier Bustos of ACENOR and feature remarks from the subsecretary of Energy, Hugo Briones, underscoring the link between mining growth and national energy policy.
