Chilean municipalities roll out aid, housing and renewable‑energy projects

Municipalities across Chile have announced a series of social‑aid and infrastructure initiatives. In Valdivia, the city government delivered gas vouchers, firewood, food parcels, mattresses and blankets to families in Corral affected by recent heavy rains, and dispatched construction machinery to assist with road clearing.

Villarrica's city council launched a $169 million programme to install solar collectors and photovoltaic panels in 60 urban homes, aiming to cut energy costs for participating families. In the neighbouring region of Los Patos, Putaendo municipal leaders connected a 75‑kilowatt solar plant donated by the Axiona foundation, expecting to reduce electricity expenses for roughly 700 households.

Suralis, the water utility serving Calbuco, began a $200 million upgrade of a 230‑metre water‑pipeline segment, replacing it with a larger‑diameter high‑density polyethylene line to improve supply reliability. Meanwhile, the Ministry of Housing and Urbanism allocated more than $35 billion to provide rural habitability subsidies to 503 families in the Ñuble region, enabling them to build new homes on existing land.

In O'Higgins, the consumer‑protection agency SERNAC signed a cooperation pact with the Peralillo municipality to open a local office for consumer advice and complaints, extending consumer‑rights services to the community.
