Chile opens housing repair subsidies for female heads of household

Chile's Ministry of Housing and Urbanism (Minvu) has opened applications for the 'Tarjeta Banco de Materiales' (Material Bank Card) subsidy, aimed at supporting 25,000 female heads of household. The program provides financial assistance to purchase construction materials for low-complexity home repairs.

Applications are open from September 10 to October 9, 2026, and must be completed online via the Minvu website. The benefit is delivered through a digital card that can be used at hardware stores partnered with Serviu. The subsidy amounts vary based on the type of work selected:

• Roof repairs: approximately 25 UF. • Bathroom repairs or improvements: approximately 15 UF. • Installation or replacement of perimeter fencing/gates: up to 40 UF.

To qualify, applicants must be women over 18, either Chilean or permanent residents, with a registered family group in the Social Household Registry (RSH) between the 70% and 100% brackets. They must also be homeowners, possess an active ClaveÚnica, and meet minimum savings requirements.
