Chile police dismantle indoor cannabis grow and dismiss officers after drug tests

Detectives of the Antinarcotics and Organized Crime Brigade (Brianco) in Temuco arrested an adult man suspected of illicit drug trafficking and indoor cannabis cultivation. The operation seized 22 cannabis plants, 629.68 g of processed cannabis, cash and related equipment, and the suspect was placed under judicial custody.

In the Biobío region, Carabineros dismissed two police officers after they tested positive for prohibited substances and failed to provide medical prescriptions. The force reported five positive cases, with two immediate terminations, two under administrative investigation pending prescription verification, and one pending confirmation of a counter‑sample.

Both incidents are part of Chile’s ongoing internal drug‑control efforts.
