Chile police recover 40th stolen vehicle of the year and detain driver

In Talca, the Carabineros Centauro unit recorded the recovery of its 40th motor vehicle stolen this year, highlighting ongoing preventive patrols. During a stop at the intersection of 1 Oriente and 1 Norte, officers found the car linked to a theft report filed on 4 February 2026 and cited the driver for lacking a licence.

The driver, identified as 41‑year‑old L.C.R., a Mexican national with no prior record, was arrested on suspicion of vehicle receptation and placed under the custody of the local guarantee court pending further investigation. Lieutenant Luis Ignacio Espinoza Pereira, head of the Centauro section, said the operation demonstrates the unit’s commitment to detecting crimes, recovering assets and improving community safety.
