Chile police seize 6 kg of marijuana on Ruta 5 and arrest driver with cannabis in Punta Arenas

Carabineros of the Chimbarongo Substation seized 6.402 kg of processed marijuana after a controlled chase that began at kilometer 157 of Ruta 5 Sur. The suspect fled, discarding a suitcase that was recovered at kilometer 165; laboratory testing confirmed the plant material as cannabis. The investigation continues to identify the individuals involved.

In Punta Arenas, police detained a driver who was reported for reckless driving and running two red lights on Avenida Eduardo Frei. A field test of a bag found in the vehicle returned a positive result for cannabis. The driver, a Chilean citizen, was placed in the custody of the public prosecutor for further proceedings.
