Chile promotes women creators with literary festival in Maule and music series in Coquimbo

The second edition of the "Pasadas pa’ la Pluma" Festival of Women and Literature opened in Talca, extending its program to five communes of the Maule Region – Pencahue, Maule, Curepto, Rauco and Talca. Organized by the NGO Surmaule and funded by the National Book and Reading Promotion Fund 2026 of the Ministry of Cultures, Arts and Heritage, the itinerant event features book fairs, launches, workshops, public readings, theatre, dance and music, aiming to highlight the work of women and gender‑diverse creators and to strengthen local cultural identity.

At the same time, the audiovisual series "Alma de Música" began its second season on 1 August, presenting six bi‑weekly episodes that showcase twelve female singer‑songwriters from the Coquimbo Region. The project, also financed by a 2026 Ministry cultural fund, links the artists’ work to the legacy of Nobel laureate Gabriela Mistral and to the region’s landscapes. The launch ceremony was held at Sala Latente, where director Marcia Fehrmann emphasized the series’ role in preserving and projecting women’s artistic contributions.
