Overview

In August 2026, the Chilean Ministry of Cultures, Arts and Heritage expanded its financial support for various sectors. The 2026 Cultural Heritage Fund, managed by the National Service of Cultural Heritage (Serpat), opened its call for proposals with a 5.5 billion-peso budget. This eighth edition includes national and regional lines for the conservation, research, and restoration of heritage, including a new line for the risk management of protected movable goods. Applications remain open until 8 October.

Simultaneously, the Ministry launched the 2026 call for Performing Arts Trajectory Companies. This 1.6 billion-peso initiative, funded through the National Fund for Performing Arts, aims to support 16 companies across disciplines such as theater, dance, circus, and opera to create works and facilitate free performances in regional areas. Additionally, the Ministry announced the 2027 Art in Education Promotion Fund (FAE), allocating 450 million pesos to strengthen artistic training for youth and support mediation programs by non-school entities. In Atacama, the Centro Cultural Ser Humano is already utilizing FAE funds for staff training to benefit approximately 500 children.

However, funding challenges have emerged regarding infrastructure. Cultural authorities are currently urging the Regional Government (Gore) to approve the remaining funds necessary for the construction of the Museo Regional de Ñuble. While the central government has committed 85% of the budget, regional officials are seeking the complementary funds to address heritage conservation and research needs. Construction is expected to begin in the final quarter of 2026.
