Chile proposes 3.6% real increase for early childhood education

The 2027 Budget Bill in Chile includes a 3.6% real increase for early childhood education. This funding aims to support nurseries and kindergartens in delivering quality education by meeting national performance standards and official recognition requirements.

María de la Luz González, Executive Director of Fundación Educacional Oportunidad, noted that the increase is a step toward addressing historical funding gaps in VTF kindergartens managed by foundations, municipalities, and Local Public Education Services (SLEP). The investment targets more than 116,000 children, many in vulnerable contexts, to foster cognitive, emotional, and social development during their first years of life.
