Chile proposes extraordinary child support bonus
A legislative project is currently under discussion in the Chilean Congress to establish the ‘Bono Extraordinario de Apoyo a la Niñez’ (Extraordinary Child Support Bonus). The government-led initiative aims to provide economic relief to low-income families facing rising living costs.
Under the proposed terms, eligible children between the ages of 0 and 13 (as of June 1, 2026) would receive a one-time payment of $30,000 CLP per child. To qualify, the family must belong to the most vulnerable 80% of the population according to the Social Registry of Households. The benefit is intended to be a single payment per child and would not be subject to tax deductions or considered taxable income.
