Chile provides Bono Base Familiar to vulnerable households

The Bono Base Familiar is a monthly economic contribution provided by the Chilean state to households within the Chile Seguridades y Oportunidades subsystem who are in situations of high economic vulnerability. No application is required, as the Ministry of Social Development and Family automatically verifies eligibility each month.

To qualify, participants must be involved in psychosocial or socio-labor accompaniment programs, such as Familias, Abriendo Caminos, Calle, or Vínculos. For those in the Familias program, the household must also receive the Bono de Protección. Additionally, the monthly per capita income must be below $57,073.

The benefit amount is not fixed; it is calculated to cover 85% of the difference between the household's per capita income and the $57,073 threshold. The average monthly payment is currently estimated at $40,046. The amount remains stable for the first 16 months, after which it decreases by one-sixth each month, provided eligibility requirements continue to be met.
