Chile ranks lowest in perceived youth mental health
According to the Ipsos Education Monitor, which surveyed perceptions of youth across 31 countries, Chile ranks lowest regarding the mental health of its young population. In Chile, 68% of the population describes the mental health of young people as poor, significantly higher than the global average of 48%.
Furthermore, 42% of respondents identified mental health as the primary challenge facing youth. The data reflects adult perceptions rather than the direct experiences of young people themselves. Experts suggest that while public conversation regarding mental health has increased, structural changes in schools, universities, and workplaces are necessary to address the underlying pressures rather than simply teaching youth to identify their anxiety.
