Chile salmon industry marks Semana del Salmón and gala dinner

The Semana del Salmón 2026 celebration in Puerto Montt drew more than 10,000 attendees to a citizen day that highlighted the region’s salmon production. Deputy Minister of Economy and Mining Daniel Mas visited the Plaza de Armas, noting the event’s role in regional development and tourism. Companies partnered with SalmonChile, such as Multi X, Camanchaca and Marine Farm, donated over a tonne of salmon and hosted interactive stands, while a cooking show featured MasterChef winner Daniela Castro. Government officials, including the regional governor Alejandro Santana and the mayor of Puerto Montt, also took part.

Later, the industry will honor long‑standing contributors at the Cena del Salmón gala on 10 September at Hotel Patagónico in Puerto Varas. Organized by Mundo Acuícola with support from SalmonChile, the Council of Salmon and the Association of Salmonicultores de Magallanes, the ceremony will present awards for career trajectory, pioneering companies, merit and family legacy, marking 50 years of commercial salmon farming in Chile.
