Chile targets Asian markets to double kiwi volumes by 2030

The Chilean Kiwi Committee is implementing a strategic expansion into developing Asian markets, aiming to significantly increase production volumes. By 2030, the Committee expects a 50% to 55% increase in Chilean kiwi volumes compared to 2025 levels, with potential growth reaching 140% to 150% by 2035 due to ongoing plantings.

Negotiations in Asia follow a sequential, species-specific process. The protocol for kiwifruit in Vietnam is nearly finalized, with a definitive inspection visit scheduled for March 2027. Successful entry into the Vietnamese market is expected to pave the way for subsequent negotiations regarding blueberries and cherries.

In the United States, the removal of a 10% tariff has contributed to a nearly 50% increase in shipped volumes. This growth is supported by rising consumer interest in the nutritional benefits of kiwifruit. To manage increasing supply, the Committee is also conducting promotional campaigns in India, Brazil, and Mexico to tap into markets where per capita consumption remains significantly lower than in Europe.
